Kennon Cassidy was hired to decorate cardiovascular surgeon, Simon Sheffield's home. However, Simon needed more than just decorating. He needed help with his 2 daughters after their nanny fell ill. Kennon agreed because something about the Sheffield family tugged on her heart's string. But still stinging from the defection of her boyfriend of 2 years, Kennon was not looking for a relationship. But her mother, aunt, Simon and his girls were going to tried their best to make her realized that their love was everlasting.
I have never been a big fan of matchmaking romances but Marie Ferrarella did a great job balancing the romantic elements, leaving readers satisfied by the last page. The story was pretty mellow. There wasn't much action or any outstanding events that would encouraged you to turn the page. However, there was plenty of humorous dialogue and with the short chapters, it felt like you were breezing through the book. The best part of this novel were the likeable characters. No one was vindictive and everyone had one goal of getting the hero and heroine together. Simon was a stoic doctor, who did not how to deal with his daughters on a paternal level. It was endearing how hard he tried to be a better father. Kennon was another Mary Poppins romance type heroine. She had a special way with children. She always knew what to say and do. Everyone loved her. You want to hate her but you can't help but what to cheer her on. Simon had to deal with some guilt and Kennon had some trust issues. Luckily, the story was not centered on their problems and did not come out until the very end. If you are not a fan of children in your romance books, these two little darlings will changed your mind. They were sweet and had a childish innocence that you can't help but be charmed. (However, they were a major part in the story and if that is an issue, then do not pick this book up.) All the side characters were well thought out. This was a practically clean romance except there was one tastefully done love scene near the end.
If you have the time and money, go for it. If you don't, then it's okay as well. If you are looking for a hot read, then pass this one by. Why didn't I give it a 5 stars? I would not read this again. One shot was enough.
