Lisa returns to her old hometown when her mother passed away.  Planning on staying home from now on, Lisa tries to help around the sheep farm.  When she finds out the ranch is not doing well, she decides to win the sheepdog contest for the $10,000 prize.  First, she needed a dog.  In steps in Lucky.  Picked up from the shelter, where Lucky was placed for being a bad sheepdog, Lisa is going to prove that with a little luck, miracles can happen.

This movie has a little of everything for everyone: romance, drama, and a cute dog.  The Achilles’ heel was its plot.  It was strong at the beginning but as the story progress (after she got Lucky), I felt that the plot was forced into an impractical scenario.  POSSIBLE SPOILER: For example, the town’s vet, a responsible individual, took 6 young children into the middle of the forest when you can clearly see a storm was brewing in the distance.  It didn’t make sense as I watched it but of course, it led up to the climax of the movie that eventually influences the ending of the movie.  But as climaxes go, it will tug on the heart strings.  If you can overlook the improbable situations, this movie teaches a valuable lesson of not giving up.  The acting was decent as well.  However, I did find Lisa (Natasha Henstridge) to be a bit irritating.  She was very perky and peppy.  It can be cute but not in a woman in her 30s to 40s.  I could understand why her family didn't take her seriously at the beginning

The ending is a bit campy since everything miraculously works out in the end but I liked the lessons taught in the movie.  I did not give it 5 stars since I don’t think I will watched it again.  Once was enough for me.  So, if you like inspirational movies or like movies with cute dogs in it, then I would suggest you buying it.  This is a clean, wholesome movie for the entire family.
