My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Skye Cassidy was raising her friend's sons and her own when she learned that their father, Gabe McCloud, was actually alive after all. Gabe hasn't seen his boys since his ex-wife ran off with them and he was finally going to be reunited with them after 4 years. However, taking them away from their loving foster mother was the last thing Gabe wanted to do. Not wanting to rush their departure, he decided to spend the rest of his leave with this makeshift family. Can spending time together make them realize that maybe they were already a perfect family?
Can you say it? Aww~ This was just sweet and mellow. How can I not not like it? The plot naturally fell into place and the beginning will keep you entranced by the emotional volleys the characters were faced with. The story was nicely paced that concluded with on-the-edge-of-your seat ending. One can say it was predictable, but a welcome one for me. It's so rare nowadays to find a clean, contemporary romance that focuses on family. There was no unnecessary drama. There were a few events to create some action and dialogue. But nothing over the top. Every single character in this book was plain nice. There was never any lasting anger or angst. It was really unbelievable how reasonable everyone was. This is a clean romance.
If you are a fan of sweet, clean romances, get it. There will be no regrets. You will love all the characters and the lack of drama. If you are not a fan of children in your romances, they were the huge part of the story but they were charmers, if that helps. All in all, I sincerely enjoyed the book. I couldn't wait to finish it. Has to be one of the better books I've read in a while. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I wouldn't read it again. However, this was so well written, it deserves a space on my shelf.
Note: I received this ARC from the Amazon Vine program for an honest review.
