After a devastating bull riding injury, Kael Carmody
reluctantly returned to his hometown after being away for 7 years. But the years away could not erase the bad
memories of losing the one woman he loved.
Daisy Hightower did not have time to deal with Kael after the way he
left her. She was a single mom, trying
to keep her bee farm afloat. However, when
ugly truths are finally revealed, Daisy might have no choice but face her ex
once and for all.
FRUSTRATING. You
don’t know how difficult it was for me not to throw this book against the
wall. The hero was no hero. His main transgression was the fact that he slept
– SLEPT – with the heroine’s twin sister!
And this wasn’t because he was dating her sister or anything like
that. It was because he was so drunk and
just wanted to sleep with her and conveniently, confused the two of them. Then to top the night off, he got her sister
pregnant! Fast forward 7 years later, he
found out he had a child and blackmailed Daisy into marrying him or he would
take the child away. People make
mistakes but Kael kept digging himself deeper throughout the book. I kept reading to look for that redeeming
quality and that was Daisy. Her emotions
and actions were something I understand and could relate to. Her scenes were the ones I looked forward to
reading. But unfortunately, the book’s
main perspective came more from Kael’s.
So, yea, this was hard book to get through. However, I will admit, by page 123, the story
does get better. The ending was indeed the
best part.
Surprisingly for a Silhouette Romance, it lacked humor and/or
real romance. I hated the hero but like
everyone else. The drama was the main
driver and you kind of got sick of the rehashing. I couldn’t wait to finish this book. I was leaning towards 2 stars but Daisy and
the ending pushed it to a 3. In the end,
this was a total miss. Note: This is technically
clean since there is one behind-the-door scene.
