A runaway bride was not who Cabot Dixon expected to answer his Help Wanted ad, but he couldn't turn away a damsel in distress.  Kate Scott needed a hiding place until the scandal blew over and a place to figure out her life.  As the summer progressed, Kate and Cabot's relationship began to heat up despite their baggage.  However, when Kate's other life intrude, will their love make it?

The only thing ruining the book was the heroine.  I admire a confident heroine, but she came off as just arrogant, overly talkative and extremely nosy.  There were a lot of instances but I’ll give you the quote that completely turn me off Kate Scott.  “But, seriously, a female mechanic? Grease, dirt, engines?  What kind of woman would want to . . . ? (p. 102).”  Was the setting of the book in the middle ages?  Nope.  2014.  This woman talked non-stop and asked questions that she had no business knowing.  Kate always say she wasn’t being nosy but constantly contradicts herself.  When people asked her questions, she clammed up.  Then gets offended when the townsfolk made assumptions.  Then don’t get me started with her relationship with Cabot.  She wanted space and he gave it.  Kate worried that he wasn’t attracted to her and sets out to annoy him until he falls helplessly into her arms.  This was repeated a few times.  For me, I felt they were more in lust than in love.  I don’t recall them really hashing out their feelings until the very last chapters.

The beginning will be a trial.  However, there was some goodness by page 130.  However, the ending was chock full of unnecessary drama caused by Cabot.  Honestly, the best part of the book is the side characters and Cabot's son.   They really helped Cabot and Kate get their act together.  I have read Teresa Southwick’s romances before and this was surprisingly not her best.  The writing felt choppy.  The story did not hold my attention and so much drama.  The only reason I read the book as fast as I did was so I can just finish it.  All in all, slightly disappointed and was a miss for me.
