The Sheriff Who Found Christmas by Marie Ferrarella
A light, sweet read. Despite the light fare, I could not put the book down. Lani Chisolm could have been annoying with her bubbly personality, but the author wrote it in a way that it was a charming trait and balanced well with Garrett's more morose side. There was not much to the plot. Mostly, it was Lani trying to make Garrett help celebrate the holidays. All the characters were very engaging and fun loving. But what was lost was the romance. Half way through the story, as an after thought, there were a few scenes where Garrett would randomly noticed Lani as more than an attractive nuisance. This was a clean romance. Not much passion. Just an occasional kiss here and there. Garrett's niece played a main part in the story but she was such endearing child. A perfect, breezy read for the holidays.
A Rancho Diablo Christmas by Tina Leonard
If I thought the first story did not have enough passion, the second story had more than enough for the two stories. From the moment they met, there was a constant attraction that pretty much took up the plot. Occasionally, the author threw in some of her past characters from the Callahans series to create a semblance of a plot between Johnny and Jess. However, I am not sure how they really got to know one another within the limited 100 pages (about 3 days - the book's time), when their lust seem to be leading them around. In all honesty, this book would not be something I would pick up. I get easily annoy with matchmaking romances and this one practically embraced the topic. So, if you are looking for a passion-filled story and/or reading the Callahan Cowboy series, this is your best bet. Other than that, I would skip this.
