My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I'm a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast and I'm constantly on the lookout for new books. Then I happen to stumble over this novel on one of my daily searches on Amazon. It has been on wish list for while and finally got it a couple of days ago. Why did I wait so long? This story was absolutely brilliant.
At the beginning, I do admit the first couple of chapters were a little slow. However, these chapters were crucial to build up our heroine's character and back story. (But I've found most variations are like that.) Rhianne Menyon was another awesome representation of Beauty and definitely one of my favorites. I formed an instant affinity with her character. She was an artist and like to read just like me. How cool is that? Rhianne was brimming with good qualities like her willingness to sacrifice herself for her friends and family. Even though she knew they wouldn't have done it for her, she accepted it. She took her situation with aplomb and learned to make the best of it. And then our swoon-worthy hero, Theran Blackmoor, has to be my favorite Beast thus far. I would say he was modeled between the original French Beast and Disney's Beast. He was calm and courtesy. But the author made sure you didn't forget he was still a man underneath. The plot focused heavily on the couple and allowed their relationship to grow. There was no added drama to distract. And the story behind his curse was an original idea and made perfect sense. The ending was the best. Everything boiled to a suspenseful crescendo to safely end to a sweet ending.
Would I recommend? YES! If you are a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast, you have to get this book. I just couldn't put this book down. A great cast of characters, intriguing storyline and subtle romance made this a winner in my book.
