Michelle Godfrey's lived a Cinderella life. After her loving father passed away, she was left to the mercy of her evil stepmother. When things couldn't get any worse, a knight appeared to save her. Gabriel Brandon was enchanted with Michelle and made it his goal to take her underneath his wings. But with her still being a teenager, he had to take a step back so she can grow up and experience the world. But when she finally grew up, can Michelle show him that she was ready to be his forever?
I don’t know. It was
good overall but I was left a little unsatisfied by the end. The characters were fine. As with all Palmer’s characters, they were
all good people that somehow were all involve with mercenaries and drug
cartels. There were a lot of recurring
characters that I enjoyed reading about again.
However, the hero was surprisingly scarce. If this was a romance, I expected some
romance. Because she was still young and
he didn’t want to push her, he left the story.
What??? He did not come back
until the final chapter. Would I call
this a romance? It felt more like a
young adult book that eventually morphed to a romance at around the 200-page
mark. One could say the pacing was a little
off. There was too much focus on
Michelle’s growing up that everything was waylaid to the side. It became an assumption that since they found
each other attractive at the beginning, they were going to end up together in
any case. You see Gabriel’s sister more
often than him. However, I did find his sister very
entertaining. And like her recent books,
it was a clean book except for one scene after a rushed wedding in the last
chapter.
Well, I can’t help buying a Diana Palmer book. It was a good fiction. No arguments there. If you are looking for a romance that is hot
and steamy, this isn’t exactly it. The
writing is always good and you do become invested in the cast of characters
after all this time. But if you are
expecting different, this wasn’t it. If
you are still reading her books and enjoying them, please get this book. I only gave it 3 stars because I wanted more Gabriel,
less Michelle and more fun scenes between the two. As is, I read it but wouldn’t be reading this
one again.
