My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I LOVE Big Hero 6!  The movie made me laugh, cry and smile.  Now, there is a manga!  Snapped it up when I saw it at the book store.  I like it but there is one thing I really have to say about the manga version: it DOES NOT follow faithfully to the movie.  That was my assumption when I first saw it.  Of course, all the main elements were there.  Like Hiro creating the microbots, Tadashi dying, a mask man stealing the microbots, and Baymax.  The main differences would be these two things - The way Tadashi died was not the same at all.  And Hiro actually is in college with his older brother and a prolific inventor.  Unfortunately, Hiro is a bit more obnoxious.

The manga does good job of adding background stories to the characters that the movie can’t capture.  The drawings are nice without being overly cute.  I would say the words in the smaller bubbles are really hard to read.  All in all, fans of Big Hero 6 should enjoy this reinvention.  The premise remained the same but with a lot of tweaking.  However, if you are a purist, skip it.  People who have never seen the movie can still enjoy this without actually seeing the movie.  All in all, I like it and definitely going to get the next one.
