Love By the Yard by Gail Sattler

Title: Love By the Yard
Author: Gail Sattler
Publisher: Heartsong Presents

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Struggling accountant, Shanna McPherson, needed to rebuild her life after the death of her abusive husband.  Brendan Gafferty was the man she hired to landscape her yard, so it would appeal to her prospective clients.  However, with her kids and dog constantly bothering Brendan, Shanna was afraid he'll leave.  Brendan wasn't interested in a relationship with a single mom, but when Shanna received some menacing threats, he couldn't help but feel protective of the young widow.

This book only encompasses of why I love Gail Sattler's works.  Sweet, down-to-earth romance and funny.  There was no room for wasted reading.  Everything was to the point, while still conveying the gentle romance between Brendan and Shanna's family.  The chapters were short, making reading a breeze.  I couldn't believe how quickly I got through this book.  There was a just a bit of drama, which enhanced the plot, making our hero into a knight of shining armor.  Brendan was absolutely charming.  I sincerely wished for this handsome giant as my own personal hero.  He was great with the children and knew that Shanna was the one for him.  Shanna was admirable for keeping her family afloat but I found her reluctance to see the goodness in Brendan off-putting near the end.  Her children were cute and I absolutely love the dog in this book.  The dog was the comic relief and one just enjoyed his silly antics.

I would highly recommend this book.  If you are a fan of Christian romance and/or sweet, funny, clean romances, this book is for you.  If you are looking for passion or drama, passed this up.  But with a great hero who always comes to the rescue and a funny dog, this book will definitely put a smile on your face.
