Midnight Confessions by Robyn Carr
3 out of 5 stars

After being left at the altar exactly one year ago, Sunny Archer still held on to the anger and humiliation, freezing everyone out.  Dragged to Jack's Bar for New Year's, Sunny was determined not to enjoy herself.  Drew Foley walked into Jack's Bar for a beer and was entranced by Sunny.  However, Sunny was just as determined to give him the cold shoulder.  But as the night wore on, they realized that they had a lot more in common than they realized.

It was okay.  Considering the short story was about 100 pages, 50 pages were pretty much dedicated to Sunny reminiscing about the "why" and "how" of being left at the altar.  To break up the pace, Drew filled in why his fiancee left him too.  Besides that, the plot could've been stronger if there were a lot more chapters where they get to really talk.  They were attracted, yes, but I wouldn't consider this a happily ever after story.  This is a "first date that has potential" story.  Clean story with a wonderful hero and great side characters.  Heroine has tendencies to be annoying.

Midnight Surrender by Jean Brashear
3 out of 5 stars

Jordan Parrish does not believed she can be monogamous and flaunt her single status by clubbing and coming home with a different man every night.  Will Masterson wanted a wife and Jordan was not his ideal mate.  But something drew him to Jordan and he was going to help Jordan find a heart.  Hopefully, not lose his in the process.

Another one that could've been better.  Will Masterson was another perfect hero and Jordan was another heroine who I probably would not be friends with.  She valued herself a little too lowly.  I found her reason for not falling in love (the way she acts) was not explained well, making her appear even more superficial.  Anyways, in a "Taming the Shrew" fashion, Will tried to curbed Jordan's man-eater tendencies, which I found admirable, considering the temptation.  Of course, he caved.  Then they broke up before they ever begun.  If the plot was fleshed out a bit more, this story had potential.  As is, not so much.

Midnight Assignment by Victoria Dahl

Noah James and Elise Watson worked together as special agents for the FDIC, taking over failing banks.  After an ill-advised kiss 2 years earlier, working together was awkward.  But as the New Year rang in, they might rekindled what that kissed started.

Very well written.  This was an interesting story because their occupation was one I never get to read of in a romance novel.   So, yea.  I learn something new.  Since the fact they had a previous "relationship," their chemistry appeared more natural.  Again, we have another perfect hero and a heroine, who was unsure of her feminine side.  They complement each other nicely.  There was a nice balance of the plot and the passion and humor.  There was no waste of words.  There was no rehashing of the past to the point of nausea.  Everything was precise and to the point.  The only reason I gave this one a 3 stars was because this is not something I would normally read despite how well it was written.  It didn't wow me.

All in all, an okay read.  If this wasn't on sale, I would've passed this book up.  So, take my suggestion and pass 'Midnight Kiss'.  There are better books by these authors that are worth your time and money.
