My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Before I start, I like to note that the title was kind of off.  It should be amended to "The Nanny Who was Saved by a Waminda Downs's Christmas."  But that would be a little long, wouldn't it?  Now that I have said my piece . . .

Nicola McGillroy jumped at the chance to be a nanny to Cade Hindmarsh's two daughters when her Christmas wedding fell through.  Needing to gain confidence in herself once again, Nicola was going use this opportunity to become stronger so when she returned, no one was going to feel sorry for her.  Cade can sense a kinship, and unexpected attraction, the moment the nanny stepped off the plane.  Together, will they be able to create the best Christmas ever for his little girls?

This was a pretty uneventful story of two people overcoming the hurt of the betrayals that their significant others did to them during the Christmas season.  I found the characters to be very relateable and anyone, who has been hurt in a relationship, can readily form a kinship.  I found Nicola to be quite endearing.  You initially see the heroine at her lowest - having a perception of herself as overweight, gullible and naive.   And then the admiration grew as she steadfastly stood to her beliefs that she needed to take care of herself first as the story progressed.  Cade, on the other hand, seem to devolved just a bit.  Supposedly stronger from his divorce, I expected Cade to help Nicola to grow with words of wisdom and his love.  Instead, he wound up trying to pressure her to sleep with him and later, asking her to marry him for his daughters' sake.  I was put off by Cade's immature behavior for half of the story but the ending happily made up for it.  The plot was pretty straightforward and mellow.  On a side note, this is a clean romance.

Would I recommend?  I hesitate to.  Sure, there are a lot of nice, amiable characters and the writing was done well.  However, there wasn't anything to keep one's interest.  There was a slight struggle to finish.  I do not have regrets reading the book but if I have never read it, it would be no lost.  But if you are a fan of the author or plot, buy it a lowered price or even better, borrow it.  I would suggest it to readers who prefer clean and/or Christian romances.  For everyone else?  Pass this one by.
