The Sly Cooper Collection

This is another birthday game.  From myself.  XD
Platform: Playstation 3
My Playtime: 60+ hours
Genre: Stealth/Adventure/Puzzle/Platform
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (I don't even have to finish this.  I'm in love with this game and Sly.)

I have never gave this game a second look even when it was originally released in PS2.  However, when I saw the raving reviews and the great Gold Box deal on Amazon, I caved.  And guess what?  I'm obsessed with this game.  XD  Where has this game been all my life?

I'm going to break the review down into the 3 games and then the overall package.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus - 4 out of 5 stars

Out of the 3 games, I found it the most frustrating when it came to gameplay.  You are given 5 lives.  Each time you "die", you lose a life and restart at the beginning of that dungeon, which was perfectly reasonable.  However, if you lose all of your lives, you have to completely began again from the very start of the area.  This was my only gripe.  Since I'm not normally a platformer, the game was already a challenge and it only added to my frustration.  XD  In the end, Sly Cooper won me over with his charm and wit.

Sly Cooper and the Band of Thieves - 5 out of 5 stars

This was definitely my favorite.  It takes the first game and improve on it, making it a tighter and more user friendly game.  Also, this was the only game I was able to 100% completion.

Sly Cooper and Honor Among Thieves - 4 out of 5 stars

Not my favorite but it was an interesting game.  This time around, Cooper's gang have now grown from 3 to 7 members.  What does this mean?  More annoying controls and puzzles to get used to.  This was another frustrating aspect that can be off putting at times.

Note: I have not played the additional Playstation Move mini-games since I do not own a Move.  Also, I cannot comment on the quality of the visuals.  I have not played the original game but I'm going to assume that it was remastered in HD, the quality should greatly improved.

I'm going to highly recommend this game.  Go out and buy this game right this minute.  This game is an addictive pleasure, with an engaging cast of characters, intricate storylines and fun (freakingly annoying) game play made this the perfect game.  My only regret would be that I have not played this game sooner.  I always avoided platform and stealth games, thinking I wouldn't good at it.  But you know what?  The creators made gamer friendly and anyone can quickly get use to the controls.  However, if you are easily frustrated and not quick with the controls, then pass this game over.  It can be a turn off when you can't get pass a certain point and all you want to do is throw the control at the screen.  Ahem.  Sly Cooper has become a favorite game and an automatic buy.
