Stowaway Angel Review

Title: Stowaway Angel
Author: Cheryl St. John
Line: Heartwarming
Publisher: Harlequin
ISBN: 9780373365821
Website: http://www.harlequin.com
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Starla Richards was driving her father's rig when she picked up an unexpected stowaway.  Charlie McGraw was out of his mind when his little girl disappeared but when an angel returned his daughter to him, he felt his heart thaw a little.  Since the weather prevented Starla from continuing her route, Charlie offered his home until she was able to leave.  However, Charlie's daughter had other plans to get her angel and dad together.

If you are in search for a sweet, simple, drama-less Christmas romance, look no further.  I'll be frank - nothing really happens.  And that is a major plus.  There was no unnecessary drama.  No misunderstandings.  Just a straightforward plot of Starla getting stranded for Christmas, enjoying what the holiday offer, leaving when she was able to, and realizing how much they really felt for one another.  What made this story was not the plot, but its loving characters.  Our heroine was tops.  Starla had no artifices and very giving.  The hero was absolutely adorable.  I love his thoughts - he wanted to get rid of his bed because the most beautiful woman slept in it and didn't want to be reminded of her.  So romantic.  The writing was done well and a breeze to get through.  I haven't read the original story, but the modernizations and rewritten portions to make a cleaner version was done exceptional well and flawlessly integrated.

If you don't like children in your stories, pass this one by.  His daughter played a major part of the plot.  If you are looking for a little more passion, I might recommend the original book, Charlie's Angels.  All in all, if you need a filler book, this should be on top of your list if you love gentle, clean romances.  Why the 4 stars despite the praise?  I wouldn't read the book again, but was definitely worth my time.
